Why BSBLOps exists

A travel baseball club is a small business that nobody gets paid to run. There is a registration form somewhere, money arriving through a payment app, a schedule in a spreadsheet, a roster in someone's email, and a group chat where all of it gets re-explained every week. The person holding it together is usually a parent who volunteered to help and is now the integration layer between six products that do not know about each other.

The generic team apps solve one team's schedule. The generic payment tools take money but know nothing about a roster. Neither has an opinion about a tryout weekend, a season rollover, or an entry fee that has to be paid before you know whether ten families can travel.

BSBLOps is one system for the off-field half of a club: registration and the money attached to it, the schedule and who is actually coming, tryouts and the roster that comes out of them, tournament travel and the commitments that fund it, and the messages that keep families in the loop.

Some decisions that fell out of taking that seriously:

• A team is a franchise, not a season. Rosters, age groups and coaches live on a per-season record, so last year's 12U still exists next spring — with who played and who coached.
• Families should not need an account to answer you. Availability asks, tournament commitments, tryout signups and email preferences all work from a link. The lowest-friction path is the one most families will actually take.
• Club money is the club's. Payments run through your own Stripe account. We record what was charged and what was paid; we never sit in the middle of it.
• The pages families land on belong to the club. Your handbook, your tryout page and your emails carry your club's name and colours, not ours.

BSBLOps is built by a small team that has sat through the season-opening meeting where somebody asks who still owes for uniforms and nobody knows. We would like to stop attending that meeting.
